St. Regis Hotels & Resorts is a luxury hotel chain that is part of Marriott International.

A customer shares her experience on TripAdvisor, "We had an amazing weekend at the St. Regis Mexico City. The staff was incredibly kind, attentive and helpful until....... we left all of our luggage and shopping bags in the hotel lobby for the entire day, we picked the bags up late afternoon and switched to another hotel for a conference. By Monday morning we realized we were missing a brand new iPad, women’s designer shoes, and a necklace. Taken from three separate bags. The hotel said there was nothing they could do! I think being the St. Regis there is something more you could do. Clearly, there is a bigger issue at hand. Please be aware of your belongings and keep everything in the safe while they wine and dine you and play nice to your face."

"There is apartheid in the working culture! Treats the non locals from Supervisory to rank & File level so low, favoring more hard headed, less experience but arrogant locals staffs. The management were held on the neck by the locals! They hired a Recreation Manager with poor leadership, zero knowledge on Psychology to handle staffs- supported by a Spa Director who is deceitful, pleasing the higher management and blaming her downline just to cling on to her position. Cons: Working Culture- Discriminating, no job training, No clear path where the company is heading at!"

It may seem like a luxurious job...but behind the walls that guests don't see is an old, outdated enclosed office space that is surrounded by snobby people. I was so excited to work here and thrilled to be at the best resort but it was the most depressing experience of my life. They didn't value the work that I did, upper management always took credit for my work, my ideas were never considered, and not once felt valued. This resort is now the "Monarch Beach Resort" but until upper management changes, behind those walls: it's the same hell."

"I worked at St. Regis Hotels part-time for less than a year Cons: The lowest morale of ANY workplace I have ever worked at in hospitality or otherwise. Can't speak for the other departments in the hotel but the restaurant outlets are disorganized, badly managed/run, and definitely not the same calibre of "fine dining" that I've had the pleasure of working at in the past. Not even close. Constantly understaffed, lack of resources, lack of tools, lack of supplies, lack of information, lack of support. They drive away good people due to terrible upper management and those above upper management seem to be completely blind to it or just don't care. Who can guess. In orientation, they try to sell you this idea that you are a valued, empowered employee that the company cares about when the exact opposite has been demonstrated time and time again. Long, painful training process that doesn't teach you a thing. Be prepared to teach yourself. Management lacks the essential skills to relate to staff and to be good leaders which takes a very special kind of person and skillset to motivate and inspire a team. They expect you to work crazy long hours like a robot and expecting you to forgo outside obligations such as school, other work commitments, family, friends, life in general. Zero respect for our lives outside of work. Understaffed and working overtime every day. Work/life balance non-existent. If you don't know your rights, as someone else pointed out, then be prepared to be used. Breaks are too short for hours worked or non-existent and against the law. Hours scheduled, too long and against the law. Inadequate days off to recharge, and, dare I say it again, against the law. Will change schedule without 24 hours notice, against the law. Etc etc etc. You get the picture. Who's policing this? Apparently, no one because everything is running amok. Standards? There is protocol but it's not followed across the board in a consistent manner. Fair and equal treatment? Don't expect it. Be prepared for false allegations, and one-sided truths. Also, management will often berate you in front of customers to our embarrassment and to the horror of the guest. Management prone to grabbing you when they dislike something you have done. Note to management: Keep your hands to yourself. Respect personal space! Have any feedback or constructive criticism? Don't bother wasting your breath. You get a strong sense that your voice doesn't matter, you have no business contributing anything, nothing gets done anyway, and you'll feel the frustration big time. Do you take pride in getting the job done autonomously? Ha! Not here. Micromanagement is rife! They don't trust in your ability to get the job on your own. Have on several occasions witnessed egos, unprofessionalism, sarcasm, and condescension from management. They expect one thing from you but don't lead by example. Beware, if you value working in a place that treats you with respect! Great management is supposed to motivate, inspire, engage, and retain its staff! Not here. The company culture of this place is the worst!!!! So much more to be said, but you get the picture, I hope. NOTE TO MARRIOTT (if you're reading): Employees don't leave Companies, they leave Managers! You have a problem at the St Regis, Toronto location. Many, many staff have come forward to HR and the union with complaints. Nothing addressed. Shame on you. Don't forget, your employees are also potential customers and you should treat them with the same level of respect as your guests. Would never recommend anyone to stay at a Marriott property out of principle."

Lower the confidence, less appreciation, they won't see what you are going through, dropping home after work is huge problem as they mostly don't have cars on time, accommodation given by company is soo far that you have to waste your time travelling 2 3 hours, hr is slow about this, whatever you do your work is less appreciation less, no care for staff"

Management allows politics to continue ie: bullying and favoritism. Owners are giving the team there a really hard time making it difficult for everyone. No work life balance at all.
